Check Your Outlets for Improper Wiring and Faulty Ground

The Socket Tester checks your electric outlets for improper wiring and faulting ground. Electrical outlets can be improperly wired or damaged in a number of ways: a wire can short or fray, a wire can disconnect or corrode, or the wires can be connected to the wrong contact. Some outlets, especially older ones, don’t have any ground at all. These issues can potentially cause fire hazard or shock, are a problem for polarized appliances, and definitely a problem if you are using the outlet’s ground connection to ground your shielding materials, appliances or other grounding items like an Earthing sheet or pad.

Large LCD display lights up to indicate all the following possible issues:

  • Voltage on ground connection
  • Disconnected Ground
  • Disconnected Neutral
  • Disconnected Hot
  • Interchanged Neutral and Hot
  • Interchanged Ground and Hot
  • Interchanged Ground and Hot, Neutral missing
  • GFI function

Don’t ground to your electrical outlet without testing it first! North American plug only. Rated for 120V, 50/60 Hz.

When you really want to get serious about low EMF in your bedroom, consider getting a “Demand Switch”. This allows you to turn your fuses off from your bedside, and to turn them back on again easily if you need to get up in the middle of the night.

A Demand Switch requires installation by a trained electrician, but it is very worth it in our experience! Many people notice a difference in sleep quality in just one night with the fuse off to the bedroom! Try it first by turning off the fuses manually one night (except for the refrigerator), using a flashlight to get back to your bed, and see if you notice a difference. Then get serious and get an electrician to install a convenient Demand Switch at your bedside for your convenience.

Unless one’s home wiring is encased in a protective metal cable (which most is not), we are surrounded by electric and magnetic fields from wall wiring as well as from any electric and electronic appliances in the bedroom. One is impacted from the wiring’s electric fields in your bedroom, in adjacent rooms, and from rooms above and below your bedroom room. Installing a Demand Switch assures you will not be exposed to these fields while you sleep, which will take a tremendous cumulative stress off of your body. One great feature of the Demand Switch is you can even adjust the activation threshold from 0-100 mA so low amperage devices such as luminescent nightlights can still be used. Note: What you cannot control are 3 phase (240V) circuits like the ones for your electric stove and dryer.

  • Installation Must be Done by a Licensed Electrician according to the electric code.
  • North American style only.
  • Warning stickers for breaker panel and receptacles must be installed and are included.
  • You will need a Demand Switch for each circuit you want to control. Most people turn off the electricity to the circuit that contains their bedroom, but all circuits could be turned off if the house is large and there are multiple bedrooms in other areas, if desired.

- Installation must be done by a licensed electrician according to the electrical code for each State / Province (USA / Canada). - North American style only. - Warning stickers for breaker panel and receptacles are supplied and must be installed.
